About Us

Greenwich High School is a collaborative community of learners dedicated to academic excellence, personal integrity, and interpersonal responsibility. One of the largest high schools in Connecticut, GHS is a four-year high school serving approximately 2700 students of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The school’s philosophy of “freedom with responsibility” encourages students to make decisions affecting both their study and leisure time. The Cardinal Rules promote a climate of mutual respect and concern for others.

The generous Greenwich community has recently constructed a state of the art Performing Arts Center here at the Greenwich High School, resulting in one of the finest concert venues in the state. Students now have the pleasure of performing in a space that is fit for any professional performing organization. Acoustical engineers and a panel of professionals collaborated to ensure that the space was built in accordance with to the level of the excellence for which Greenwich High School’s performing arts programs are known throughout the state.

Our Goal

Ultimately, our goal is to raise $132,000 for a Steinway Model D.

This piano would be the last piece needed to truly complete a space of this caliber. The expenses incurred by the design and construction did not leave the funds necessary to purchase a new piano. The current piano is over fifty years old and does not match the standard of professionalism that the new space communicates to its audience. Students in our various performing arts classes and activities deserve an instrument of sufficient size and quality that will elevate student achievement while remaining in this exceptional space from now and well into the future.

Our goal is to replace our current Steinway B stage piano with a new 9-foot concert grand that is appropriate for such a prestigious space. The piano will benefit all students and organizations that will utilize the Performing Arts Center. The performing ensembles directors at the high school will regularly use this instrument with their students, currently numbering over 400 students in the building. In addition to the students who will use this during performances, community organizations such as the all-professional Greenwich Symphony Orchestra that rent the space will have to ability to make use of it.
